I've been getting these messages lately on my nameserver and I'm not quite
sure why. Hopefully someone on this list can help.
Dec 17 14:00:09 ns1 named[98]: unapproved update from [x.x.x.x].4105 for
customerdomain.com
Dec 17 14:00:44 ns1 named[98]: unapproved update from [x.x.x.x].4110 for
customerdomain.com
Dec 17 14:01:19 ns1 named[98]: unapproved update from [x.x.x.x].4117 for
customerdomain.com
I have been able to figure out that this is a Winblows box of some sort on a
dialup connection that is causing these messages. The ip isn't from one of
my blocks though, and is in the allowed-transfers section of my named.conf
file (Bind 8.1.2). I can't see that it's really doing anything aside from
making my /var/log/messages file huge, but I would like it to stop
nonetheless.
