i keep getting the following error message upon boot: ad0: READ command timeout - resetting ata0: resetting devices .. done (repeat 2x) ata0-master: WARNING: WAIT_REDY active=ATA_ACTIVE_ATA ad0: trying fallback to PIO mode ata0: resetting devices .. done ad0: HARD READ ERROR blk# 7887680 status=59 error40 i run 4.0-current (just upgraded this week from 3.4-stable) now this has only started within the last day whenever i boot. i didnt get these errors while running 4.0 for 3 or 4 days. whats this error mean and how can i rectify it? and does it do damage or anything by setting the mode to dma (from pio) after booting? hardware specs: p2-350 96 MB ram PIIX ata controller 9.6 GB quantum bigfoot hd Jeremy To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
