I tarred and gzipped the main filesystems: /boot /home /usr / /var /tmp and /opt. I recreated the filesystems after using fdisk by untarring and uncompressing. I didn't notice any data missing. What I did was write down the cylinders of where each partition began and ended. Once I had this I went and erased the appropriate partition, shaved of the amount of space I needed and reentered the partition info with the info from the new partition added. I used fdisk to do this. It seems like you would need to use disklabel. I would back up all info before attempting just to be safe. > > And how did you make sure you didn't lose data on the boundary of the two > partitions? > -- Have blue screens given you the blues, go to www.freebsd.org for the cure.
