I'm actually talking about perhaps getting rid of X11 totally. It's overkill for what I need. I use dwm right now and I basically want to create a dwm that doesn't have the massive X11 backend. X11 is well written, but it's getting outdated and quite large, especially if you only need terminals and no graphics (and really, I just want to learn, I understand that I'm 'reinventing the wheel').
