[-- Attachment #1 --] I am attempting to configure my FreeBSD 4.0 system with a serial console. I have read the doc at http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/serialconsole-setup.html and changed the device entry for COM1 in my kernel configuration file as follows: device sio0 at isa? port "IO_COM1" tty flags 0x10 irq 4 When I run /usr/sbin/config -g FREEBIE config gives me a syntax error at the line with the new device entry. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave [-- Attachment #2 --] <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META content="MSHTML 5.00.2920.0" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I am attempting to configure my FreeBSD 4.0 system with a serial console.</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have read the doc at <A href="http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/serialconsole-setup.html">http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/serialconsole-setup.html</A> and changed the device entry for COM1 in my kernel configuration file as follows:</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>device sio0 at isa? port "IO_COM1" tty flags 0x10 irq 4</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>When I run /usr/sbin/config -g FREEBIE config gives me a syntax error at the line with the new device entry.</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Thanks,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Dave</FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML>
