The following reply was made to PR ports/41498; it has been noted by GNATS. From: "Simson L. Garfinkel" <slg@ex.com> To: "Joe Marcus Clarke" <marcus@FreeBSD.org>, <freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org>, <simsong@ex.com> Cc: Subject: Re: ports/41498: gconf in ports doesn't build. Date: Sun, 22 Sep 2002 22:35:34 -0400 No, it's not a problem anymore. I was finally able to get it to build by blowing away various libraries and such that had been installed from ports over the past 2 years, then doing a clean install. I guess things are much more orderly now than they were back in 4.0 and 4.1 days, but I still had a lot of cruft on my system. Thanks again for your help. You can close the ticket. The lesson here, I guess, is that the scripts need to be smarter for handling legacy installs, but this may not be a worthwhile place to put in energy. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Marcus Clarke" <marcus@FreeBSD.org> To: <freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org>; <simsong@ex.com> Sent: Sunday, September 22, 2002 6:31 PM Subject: Re: ports/41498: gconf in ports doesn't build.
