So far it is Ok.

Mm, where did you start kedit from?  It should be started either 
from the xterm you started xcin from, or it should at least have 
the same environment (XMODIFIERS and LC_CTYPE set as above).

I just typed a "§A¦n" (supposed to be "ni hao") that way in kedit.
