Mm, where did you start kedit from?  It should be started either=20
from the xterm you started xcin from, or it should at least have=20
the same environment (XMODIFIERS and LC_CTYPE set as above).

I just typed a "=A7A=A6n" (supposed to be "ni hao") that way in kedit.
