I have installed the mysql323-server port before and I'm sure I followed the same procedure this time...except, when I try to create a password for the root user, I get: # mysqladmin -u root -password "[password]" mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES)' I'm fairly new to MySQL so I'm not sure how to interpret this. It looks as though, by default, root isn't getting admin access, but I don't understand why this should be. No doubt I'm overlooking something obvious. Suggestions appreciated! Thanks.
