I had this and it turned out to be dust in the slots for add-on cards. Removing the cards, cleaning the terminals and blowing out the dust from the slots, fixed the problem. Overheating will produce the same symptoms. If you're in the northern hemisphere, this is time of year when you have to worry about this. Blowing out dust (pay attention to the cpu fan and power supply fan, which are dust traps) can make the difference. Of course, your problem may have nothing to do with the above. good luck, Robert
