I have a Toshiba T2400CS with a 3Com card

Are you running PAO? I have 2.2.5-RELEASE with PAO kernel extensions.
This ***may*** not work if you are not running this
/etc/pccard.conf

# 3Com Etherlink III 3C589, 3C589B, 3C589C, 3C589D
card "3Com Corporation" "3C589"
# Note this dual config does not work well, if you pull out either card
