It's easy to produce the same problem. 3 settings are necessary to trigger the bug. One is set env LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8 2. install scim. 3. For gnome-terminal. Open the Edit current profile dialog. and close gnome-terminal. Maybe It's the bug with scim. But the problem is, I've tried it within gentoo. and worked without any problem. Also gnome 2.18. Sorry to trouble again. :-)
