I have a Linux NIS server and a FreeBSD box and I want to export the Linux users to the FreeBSD 2.2.8 box. I have successfully make two FreeBSD boxes export and import users databases between them (it was really easy). I tried then to import the NIS password tables from my Linux Server and I could not do it. Somehow v. gr. "finger" freezes when it is asking for user information. And tried and trie and the only thing I saw that FreeBSD and Linux has different formats for their tables. FreeBSD: user:crypted_password:uid:gid::field1:fiel2:user_info:home_dir:shell Linux: user:crypted_password:uid:gid:user_info:home_dir:shell I think it is very important... Have you ever made this? how? Thanks in advance. ______ _ * / /###\ / \ __ /\ /\ * / ./#### \ * \__|_/ | | / \/ \ | b#####| * _ | __ | | __ = .. \____ \ \_\#####/ / \| / \ | | /\_\/ = \_| * \___\###/ * \_/\_/\__/\__\/_/\__/ = \______/ _ | | To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
