Been trying to get "sound" to work on my box. Finally gave up on an old full length, 16-bit SB card, and pulled out a 16-bit PnP SB that I had working in a previous box. Recompiled kernel. Log in under my username, go into Xwindows/Gnome/Starfish. No sound. Xmms won't play, no tinks/gongs/whistles. Nada. Go off to something else, come back, log in this time as root, go into Xwindows, and I got sound coming out the wazoo. I checked the preferences, and sound effects are ON for the 'normal' user. Any ideas? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Scary Gerry -- Senior Systems Manager freymann@scaryg.shacknet.nu Now enjoying FreeBSD 4.3RC2 along with GNOME and starfish Windows manager -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
