I have a box with the same chipset. I have 2 160GB SATA drives in a RAID1 config, which FBSD 5.4 sees 2 disks, as opposed to the single RAID subsystem. I install on one of the disks. However, when I reboot the box, I get a flashing cursor in the top left corner of the screen as if it's going to boot, but it stays there. No errors nothing. I'll be trying this out again tomorrow, so I'll let you know if I find anything.
