I just received my specified phone-bill. It filled 42 pages, with hundreds of calls with a duration of 17 seconds. (Because my modem needs to be software-reset; I have mentioned this before). Each call costs a few cents; I'm billed both for each connect, and for connect time. It all adds up. And I'm connected to the other modem, even if the handshake doesn't work.
