I don't know why it only affects > FreeBSD. Perhaps probing sio1 or some other device causes problems. PCMCIA ports are assigned at probe time in the hardware, not assigned by the hardware. (But, there are lots of buggy PCMCIA drivers.) You can assign both the controller and port to any IRQ you desire which will be used at probe/attach time, so this *shouldn't* be a problem. Nate
