We use it as a replication slave for SELECT-only queries without a
problem.  It is key that you follow the FreeBSD compilation instructions
in the INSTALL-SOURCE document if you're compiling from source; a more
"straight" configure & compile will leave you with a mess.  The test suite
won't complete properly, but everything we've tried to use works just
fine, we haven't had any problems with it crashing, locking up, etc.
