Quake2 is a good target since the original linux emulation layer came about to support Doom. The original poster's question was when is current's linux emulation layer going to be up to the job of supporting Quake2? A good starting place to resolve the issues with -current's linux emulation with respect to Quake2 is: ftp://rah.star-gate.com/pub/README.GLQUAKE.
