That way I can fix it for other people too. Please bear in mind some problems might be caused by the simple fact that English isn't my native language - you can't do too much about that. But generally I would say, it is a good idea to start with some simple working example, not with a list of all features and the stuff about stripes, volumes, plexes, organization, perfomance and what might be the differences to some kinds of RAID systems. Once the reader has got a general idea what can be done, it makes sense to discuss tuning and optimization. I don't think it would do any harm to proceed this way, because one needs to experiment and test things like these, before one starts using them in a production enviroment. Also it might be interesting for you to know, why I am asking about vinum: It is quite clear, that our school's samba server will sooner or later run out of disk space because of its growing profiles and home directories. We are frequently short of money, so I wouldn't like to buy new harddisks. But we know some people who are willing to donate old, though still good quality hardware.
