--zS7rBR6csb6tI2e1 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi! I wanted to know the state of the pcm driver regarding the AWE64 sound card. At least there is no panic anymore: anarcat@shall [anarcat]$ rec -w -r 44100 file.wav Send break (control-c) to end recording ^CTerminated I had to kill the process from outside and still had: pcm0: record overrun, dumping 88876 bytes messages..=20 What is odd is that other tools do not necessarly have the same behavior as sox. Ecasound (audio/ecasound port) for example, records fine. Try: ecasound -c -i:/dev/dsp -o:test.wav and then type "run". It will record audio in a 16 bit 44100 Hz file. Though I'm not sure it's not undersampled or something at the kernel level. How can I tell if the sound was really recorded in 16/44100? Does anyone know if the same happens under a Sound blaster 16C? Here is my dmesg, and thank you for any help: Copyright (c) 1992-2001 The FreeBSD Project.
