Make sure you cd /usr/src/release && \ make -f /path/to/-CURRENT/usr/src/release/Makefile \ [re]release ... before trying to build -CURRENT release on your -STABLE box. -STABLE's release/Makefile has some incompatibilities, the most harmless of which is BUILDNAME.
