I'm attempting to use rdist to copy the /etc/passwd, /etc/master.passwd, /etc/pwd.db and /etc/spwd.db files from BSD/OS to FreeBSD. It seems to work. IE - I can log into FreeBSD using an account that was created on BSD/OS. But, when using passwd to change a user's password, the password is changed but the uid and gid fields are cleared in /etc/passwd and /etc/master.passwd. What is causing the uid and gid fields to be cleared? Is there a better way migrate between these OSs? Thank you.
