I don't know if this goes to a mailing list, but I'm having some
problems
with APM on a notebook. I'll just describe the problem and if anyone has

an idea of what to do i'd appreciate an answer.

I installed freebsd on an acer (formerly known as Texas Instrument)
extensa 391C (P133, 16M, 1.6G, etc) and somehow got the power
management working...then it just stopped.

well actually it wasn't like that.. I was trying to make the internal
modem
and sound card work, and thus i was rebuilding the kernel... since the
apm
was not working (whenever i tried to use apm zzz or apmconf it said
/dev/apm
not configured) i tried to fix that as well. I removed the option
APM_BROKEN_STATCLOCK
from the config file thinking that maybe that would fix it.

well, it somehow did... suddenly i was able to put my notebook in
hybernation mode by
issuing a zzz command. sadly neither the modem nor the soundcard worked.
so once again
i went and rebuilt the kernel changing some drivers and some other
stuff. i never changed
anything having to do with apm.

the situation now is very strange... the first time i do a zzz it puts
the notebook on standby (not
hybernation which is what i want) and whenever i try it again it justs
turns goes to standby and
comes back immediatly (saying kernel slept 00:00:00).

I've tried going back to the old kernel, but it didn't do the trick.
i've tried almost anything i know
and nothing works... the thing is I HAD IT WORKING ONCE so it's gotta
work again somehow.

if anybody has any idea as to what could be the problem... please give
me a hand.

b.t.w if anybody happens to know how to make the modem and sound card
work i would
appreciate it too.

thanks in advance,

-oscar
