If you upgrade to stable on 20020807 or later, you may have problems
with USB printers not actually printing the job, but just holding it in
memory. If this is the case, edit your /usr/local/etc/cups/printers.conf
file and change the device for the printer from /dev/unlptX to
/dev/ulptX and restart cupsd. This should solve the problem. 

I have committed a patch to cups base which will affect newly added or
configured printers only.

You could recondigure the printer using the admin interface, too, after
rebuilding cups. Editing the file is easier IMO.
