With grep on hold awaiting a rumored regex, I've been playing with other replacements. I asked DES if he could forward those PRs to whomever should handle them. I have apropos and whatis working. makewhatis and catman are both BSD-licensed. man is currently completely goofy. I have not touched manpath yet.
