sendmail alaways connects the net when booting. You enabled a network device
which is marked up, thus sendmail waits for a couple of minutes until the DNS
packets it tries all time out. Either configure /etc/host.conf to point to
your own (caching-only) DNS server, or change sendmail boot options to "-q".
