Dear Jon, Thank you for schooling me about the 'truss' command. The output to root@barnes1:/home/wayne>truss -o /usr/local/www/data/truss.passwd /usr/bin/passwd can be viewed at http://barnes1.wustl.edu/truss.passwd I hit Ctrl_C after about 10 sec. The output is geek to me. Can anyone interpret it? In a minute I'll do the same for my stuck send-pr, and you can look for truss.send-pr on my web page. I will not have clickable links to these files, but if you spell them, they will display. Wayne M.
