Yes, but they are pre-compiled for FreeBSD! If you have a precompiled binary for a Sparc or alpha, or a number of other os's then no it won't work. If you have a pre-compiled binary FreeBSD (on i386) then yes it will work. Also, of course there is linux and SCO (?) emulation that will run binaries from those platforms as well. -Chris > -----Original Message----- > From: Kenneth Wayne Culver [SMTP:culverk@wam.umd.edu] > Sent: Thursday, October 07, 1999 11:02 AM > To: Jason Lewis > Cc: freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG > Subject: Re: again... > > Actually that's not quite correct, most of the ports for FreeBSD are also > precompiled as packages. > > > ================================================================= > | Kenneth Culver | FreeBSD: The best OS around. | > | Unix Systems Administrator | ICQ #: 24767726 | > | and student at The | AIM: AgRSkaterq | > | The University of Maryland, | Website: (Under Construction) | > | College Park. | http://www.wam.umd.edu/~culverk/| > ================================================================= > > On Thu, 7 Oct 1999, Jason Lewis wrote: > > > Pre-Compiled: no, source code and scripting: yes . > > > > >Sorry to bother you AGAIN but I forgot one more question...can you use > any > > >UNIX Programs on FreeBSD?
