edit your /etc/make.conf if you're using a 4.x+ version of freebsd and
cvsup the latest ports.

your ports supfile should be in /usr/share/example/cvsup/ports-supfile

you can install cvsup in /usr/ports/net/cvsup-bin

i believe there is a section in the handbook called staying current with
freebsd.  check that out.
