Earlier on, the Xorg support (xorg 6.99.5) for ATI Radeon Xpress 200 gfx chipset was unstable, as described here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3242 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3296 because the card was unusable at the time, I switched to a external card - the nVidia GeForce 6200 TurboCache.
