To use kernel PPP (pppd) you have to make a new kernel, with a
pseude-devide ppp 1
line (or 2, or more, if you have more serial lines, modems and PPP
connections active at the same time - if I know well).

I don't know, because there is ``chat'' designed for this (and I use it
instead of kermit for dialing).

Maybe there are some more problems, I've written it without manuals, and my
configured machine at hand.
