This port is currently broken with default options because science/hdf5 moved to a new API. I think this is an important issue because graphics/vigra is a dependency of LibreOffice. I added a patch (just adding a define that enables the old API) to the PR in question and kindly ask for review. Also, I assume more ports could be affected, see the PR.
