I didn't see this in http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/porters-handbook/index.html otherwise I would have done this already in the ports I maintain. I'll go ahead and submit patches for dvipdfm and hevea. Really there is quite a lot of info about making ports that is not in http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/porters-handbook/index.html I learn some from looking at other ports, but one can never be sure to find out everything one needs to know this way.
