git(1) diff against base

Hi,

Attached is a patch to link sed against libregex, which opens it up to using
GNU extensions (\s, \S, \b, \B, etc); this should largely be a non-event
because we already switched in-tree stuff to gsed as needed as part of maki=
ng
\<ordinary> illegal, but can we exp-run this guy to verify there's not some
other hinkery, please?
