Ahhh, nice to see polite people :( Hmm, anyway if you want X there are a few ways to get it.. If you got the CD-ROM, then its just a a distribution to install.. If I assume you have installed FreeBSD itself(and are using the CD) and have a login prompt, then login as root, and run /stand/sysinstall Then select 'c Configure' then 'D Distributions', then select '7 Custom' then 'XFree86' then work through the items in order to see what you want to install.. >From the Basic section, you'll probably want bin, cfg, doc, lib, man, prog, and set. From the server section you'll have to pick an X server which suits your gfx card, you should also pick 'SVGA' and 'VGA16' to give you a working fallback if the accelerated driver doesn't work. From the fonts section, fnts, f100, and fscl should do fine.. What I mentioned above is more than the minimum, but a nice play to start. Hope that helps :) --------------------------------------------------------------------- |Daniel O'Connor software and network engineer for Genesis Software | |http://www.gsoft.com.au | |The nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them to| |choose from. -- Andrew Tanenbaum | --------------------------------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
