Since you didn't mention which mysql version you are using..I will say = this. In the /usr/ports/UPDATING...there is a paragraph. 20041031: AFFECTS: users of databases/mysql40-server AUTHOR: ale@FreeBSD.org The MySQL Daemon must now be enabled / disabled in rc.conf. See the script for details. Is there such an entry in the rc.conf?
