Misconfigured adapter. Pressing reset was totally unnecessary. (I feel like inserting degrading comments about IBM weenies here, but I was once an active member of Team OS/2 Norway). The Right Thing To Do (tm) is press ^C a couple of times, log in as root, bring xl0 up, and start whatever daemons are missing.
