This shouldn't be possible.  The fdisk command isn't even compiled on
the alpha, and in the alpha version of sysinstall all MBR handling
code is #ifdef'd out.

Hmmm.  If you booted from alpha floppies and tried to use the x86 CD
I'm not sure it would catch the error.  If you booted the CD then you
certainly can't install from the wrong one unless you sadistically
swap the CD's after booting.
