During streaming applications (online gaming comes to mind since I host = a lan every month with this small setup) natd seems as if it cannot keep = up. There will be seconds (never more than 1) of lag that are not = accountable for. I previously used linux for my gateway to the internet, = which seemed to have no problem with the streaming applications. I was = wondering if there is a faster implementation I could use as my gateway = with freebsd. I have been reading about ipfw and ipfilter. Would = ipfilter be any faster in this case?and is it easy to implement? or is = there a way to speed up the nat translation using natd?
