To see the Unix host on the Net-Neighbourhood, try to set: browseable = yes workgroup = unix-group on the global settings, and: [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no read only = no create mode = 0750 as a share on the smb.conf file. When you log in to Win95 with the same username/password (this may not be strictly necessary, depending on the rest of your smb.conf file) as an existing user on the Unix system, you will be able to see the Workgroup "unix-group" (the Win95 machine can belong to a different group) and inside it will be your FreeBSD machine, and in it a folder that contains your Unix home-directory.
