By far the best uptimes I've had from FreeBSD were base RELEASE installations & no CVSUP. Maybe there is some advantage for "cutting edge" people but judging from the problems reported by a heap of non-geeks, users who prefer stability & reliability over having all the latest bells & whistles may well be better off installing RELEASE versions & leaving them untouched til the next RELEASE.
