Hi

I have been trying to get Sybase 11.9.2-2 (from the Red Hat RPMs) running on
FreeBSD 4.0-RELEASE, and have run into problems.

Hardware: P200, 32Mb memory, 2GB IDE disk. Do I need more memory??

I have rebuilt the kernel using
  options "SHMMAX=(SHMMAXPGS*PAGE_SIZE+1)"
  options SHMMAXPGS=8192

I have created user sybase and group sybase, /opt and other directories
where sybase bits will reside, owned by sybase.

I have unpacked the common, ase and doc rpms, and executed the
install/sybinstall.sh script as root.

I logged as sybase, and executed the srvbuild script, and answered the
questions in the window it pops up. Everything is fine up to where it tries
to start the server. Here is the contents of the status output window:

  Building Adaptive Server 'XXXXX':

Building master device... Master device complete.
Writing entry into directory services... Directory services entry
complete.
Writing RUN_SERVER file... RUN_SERVER file complete.
  Starting server... Task failed
  Unable to boot server 'XXXXX'.
  Server 'XXXXXX' was not created.

Below is install/XXXXX.log. Any suggestions on what to try next, or what to
read to find out?

Thanks in advance
John Rumsey
