The RealTek 8139 (rl0 and rl1) are pretty shitty network cards, the cheapes=
t=20
available (I can buy them for GBP =A32, about USD $3). I only use them to=20
connect my ADSL modem to my firewall because they're so cheap and performan=
ce=20
is not an issue there.

You'll almost certainly get much better performance with some more expensiv=
e=20
3Com or Intel cards.

That may not be the only bottleneck of course.....
