Examples would include Apache (although that's been around for ages), KMySQL (which both myself and Chris D. Faulhaber have been trying to port), and Gecco (which I just noticed on Freshmeat), plus a gazillion others I've not thought of. What I'd like to try to do with this (potential) thread is to deliberate a general way of accomodating programs that run plugins. Ideas include: o Having one port that covers the primary program, and having separate ports for each plugin. o Having a dialog/configure script that allows easy selecting from plugins I would really prefer some easier method. I have heard that Jeremy Lea (reg@FreeBSD.org) is writing an OPTIONAL_DEPENDS or something similar for the purpose of allowing people to decide to use X, Y, or Z with a certain port.
