I had a bit of a fossick around and AFAICT a package can depend on other ports/packages, but not on optional parts of the "base" system. Hmm, how do packages deal with dependencies on X? Or is this the same problem again? Is this even worth solving while we wait for Jordan's mythical all-singing all-dancing module system?
