help me!

during installation....after the final diskette....
this message appear.....

MAKEDEV returned non-zero status. continue, back to installation menu.

after reboot.......this message appear.....

init: can't exec /bin/sh for /etc/rc:No such file or directory
.........

can u tell me what is wrong with my installation?
