Why did I screw up SSH? HELP X-BeenThere: freebsd-newbies@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.1 Precedence: list List-Id: Gathering place for new users List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 11 Mar 2005 16:11:50 -0000 I have a virtual server running FreeBSD. The ISP claims it's version 4.10, but when I do a "uname -a" I get the following: FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE #0: Fri Nov 12 09:18:00 PST 2004 root@:/usr/src/sys/compile/IPW i386 This leads me to beleive it's 4.8. Using /stand/sysinstall I performed and upgrade to 4.10-RELEASE (selecting the Developer package). Code and binary was downloaded through passive ftp from ftp2.freebsd.org and everything looked to go well. I got a confirmation saying I simply needed to exit the install and I would be in the upgraded version. After exiting the install, uname command returns the same results as before (4.8-RELEASE). I did notice that when I return to sysinstall it's in pretty colors now, however, when I go to the "Options" I see that the Release Name is still defaulting to 4.8 Did the upgrade really work? I am accessing this machine via SSH. Last time I tried such an upgrade, I had a problem getting back into the machine once I logged out. The SSH daemon was unable to start, complaining about "PRNG not seeded". __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Make Yahoo! your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs
