Not really, but the occasional need for the rehash command is mentioned in the FreeBSD Handbook section on using ports: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ports-using.html and in the article for new users: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/new-users/index.html Each of which (and of course other handbook sections and articles) may help you get more out of your system.
