I saw exactly the same thing and had the same question; he said
that it works with 4.4.

Does it still work with 4.4?  Or is it just not working?

Maybe the chip came unseated?

If it works with 4.4, it's likely the CPU detect code that
has changed to be more strict with the MPTable contents.

Perhaps this is a known rogue BIOS that is no longer special
cased because there is a flash upgrade that fixes the known
problem?
